Title: Clean California
There are restored classics.
There are modified classics.
And then there are cars like this, built not just to drive, but to make a statement.
This 1980 BMW 320i began life as a lightweight, analog sports coupe from BMW’s golden era. What it became is something far more radical: a modern interpretation of a Group 5 silhouette car, built with intention, engineered with restraint, and showcased on the Toyo Tires stand at SEMA.
This isn’t cosplay. It’s craftsmanship.
The Vision
Draped in Alpine White and wearing the iconic Team Ikuzawa livery, the exterior was brought to life through design work by Jon Sibal, whose renders translated vintage motorsport aggression into a cohesive modern execution.
The widebody presence comes courtesy of the Ultrace / Flying Brick Racing E21 Group 5 kit, exaggerated arches, deep air dams, and pure 1970s DRM attitude. It sits low. It sits purposeful. It looks like it belongs in the paddock at Hockenheim.
The finish? Glasurit paint protected with Ceramic Pro, with livery wrap executed in Millotone, because details matter.
The Stance
Underneath those swollen arches sit BBS E16 3-piece wheels, champagne gold faces with polished lips. Motorsport royalty.

Aggressive. Functional. Intentional. This is not a show-only wheel and tire package. It’s a proper stagger with real grip.
The Heart
Powering this build is a fully custom BMW M54 inline-6 with Dual VANOS, naturally aspirated and purpose-built.
Not an S54. Not a catalog swap. An intentional M54 build, tuned for balance, response, and drivability.
Cooling is handled by CSF Radiators with an upgraded S54 oil cooler and radiator setup. Fluids by Liqui Moly. Exhaust custom-fabricated by GS Projx. It breathes. It sings. It revs like a proper BMW straight-six should.
The Chassis
Suspension is handled by CATuned coilovers specifically engineered for the E21 chassis.
Braking comes from a CATuned Wilwood big brake kit with 300mm floating rotors and 4-piston calipers.
This car doesn’t just look like a Group 5 car, it stops and handles like a modernized evolution of one.

The Interior
Open the door and you’re met with purpose.
OMP Racing seats.
Momo steering wheel.
Custom GS Projx upholstery.
Custom roll cage.
BlackVue dashcam system.
It smells like fuel and leather and intention.
There is no fluff here. No unnecessary screens. No distractions. Just driver, machine, and road.
Provenance
This wasn’t built quietly in a garage and hidden from the world.
It stood under the lights at SEMA as a Toyo Tires display vehicle, selected, curated, and presented on one of the biggest automotive stages in the world. That matters.
SEMA cars often disappear into collections. Very few come to market.
What This Car Really Is
It’s a bridge between eras.
Analog BMW heritage meets modern engineering.
Vintage racing aesthetic meets contemporary build quality.
Art piece meets functional machine.
It will stop conversations at cars & coffee.
It will draw crowds at shows.
And most importantly, it will feel alive every time you turn the key.
This isn’t just a modified 320i.
It’s a statement about what an E21 could have been if Group 5 never died.
Serious inquiries only.
