1973 Pontiac Firebird - 48k Miles

VIN: 2T87M3N129635

Mileage: 48,000 Miles

Title: Clean California Title

This 1973 Pontiac Firebird was manufactured as an Esprit model with a 350ci V8, and it was refurbished in the style of a Formula 400 model before it was purchased by the current owner in 2022. A replacement 400ci V8 was installed along with a four-speed manual transmission, the body was refinished in red with black trim, and the interior was re-trimmed in black with vinyl upholstery. Additional modifications include a Formula-style hood, a body-color rear bumper, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, an MSD ignition control module, and an MSD Atomic electronic fuel injection system. Inside, a body-color roll cage is fitted behind the front bucket seats, and four-point front harnesses are installed along with a center console, a Hurst shifter, and a Sony CD stereo. This modified Firebird is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The car was refinished in red during the 2022 refurbishment and features a Formula-style hood, a rear spoiler, an Endura front bumper, a body-color rear bumper, projector-style headlamps, and black moldings and trim.

Black-finished 17″ American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are wrapped in 215/50 front and 255/50 rear Federal Super Street 595 tires. The car is equipped with power steering, subframe connectors have been installed, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, carpets, and door panels. Black four-point harnesses are affixed to a body-color roll bar fitted behind the front seats. A Sony CD stereo is installed, and a fire extinguisher is mounted in the passenger-side foot well.

The Grant steering wheel frames a painted instrument bezel housing a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and volts. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. An electric fuel pump cut-off switch and a switch wired to an electric radiator fan are located underneath the dashboard on the driver’s side, and the selling dealer adds that the fuel pump switch needs to be flipped to the “on” position in order for the car to start.

The replacement 400ci V8 features an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, “6X” cast iron cylinder heads, and an MSD Atomic EFI system along with an MSD distributor and ignition control module. An Optima red-top battery is installed, and coated full-length headers feed into a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe.

The engine date code indicates a build in August 1974, and the stamping “YL” corresponds with a 1974 400ci Pontiac V8 with a single four-barrel carburetor for use with an automatic transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with a limited-slip differential.
