Heritage Gruppe is a consignment brokerage for collector vehicles based in Los Angeles. This page explains how our consignment process works in plain language. The specific terms of any individual consignment are set out in a written consignment agreement signed before listing.
The process
01 — Inquiry
You submit a consignment inquiry through our website or by emailing us. We review every submission personally and respond within 48 hours. If your vehicle is a fit, we'll schedule a time to inspect it and discuss listing terms.
02 — Agreement
If we move forward, we sign a written consignment agreement that covers the vehicle being consigned, the minimum acceptable sale price, our commission, payment terms, the platforms we'll list on, and other operational terms. We don't list a vehicle until both parties have signed.
03 — Photography and preparation
We transport the vehicle to our secure warehouse in Los Angeles and prepare it for listing. This includes professional photography, detailed write-up, and any agreed-upon reconditioning.
04 — Listing
Once the vehicle is ready, we list it on the leading online auction platforms (such as Bring a Trailer) or sell directly to a buyer in our network — whichever path we believe will get the best result. We handle the listing, communicate with prospective buyers, and manage the bidding or negotiation.
05 — Sale and payment
When the vehicle sells, we coordinate the closing — paperwork, payment, transport. Funds clear to the owner within five business days of auction close or sale.
Our fees
Consignment begins with an upfront production fee that covers professional photography and video for your vehicle. The remaining fee depends on your vehicle's final valuation and is settled within 48 hours after the auction ends.
We walk through the exact fee structure with you during your consultation, and it is set out in writing in the consignment agreement before your vehicle is listed. No hidden fees, no surprises.
Reconditioning, transport, and any other agreed services are billed separately. We provide an itemized invoice for any work performed.
Insurance
The owner maintains insurance on the vehicle throughout the consignment period, including while the vehicle is stored at our warehouse. We carry our own insurance covering our operations, but the owner's policy is the primary coverage on the vehicle itself.
If the vehicle doesn't sell
If a listing doesn't result in a sale at or above the agreed reserve, we relist on a different platform or pursue a direct sale to our buyer network. The vehicle remains stored with us for up to 90 days from the end of the original listing, after which the owner may collect it.
The actual agreement
The points above are an overview. The actual consignment agreement, signed before any vehicle is listed, includes the specific provisions required by California law and any additional terms negotiated between the parties. We're happy to walk through the full agreement with you before signing.
