Title: Clean California Title

Exterior

This 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL500 is a C140-generation pillarless coupe finished in black with chrome trim accents and factory body-color bumpers. Exterior features include a powered glass sunroof, Parktronic parking sensors, fog lights, xenon headlights with washers, a power antenna, double-pane windows, and soft-close doors. The finish shows some paint blemishes on the front bumper cover, which are visible in the gallery. The car retains its stately, grand touring design and offers hallmark S-Class coupe proportions with classic 1990s Mercedes-Benz styling.

The car rides on 16″ six-spoke silver alloy wheels wrapped in Kelly tires. From the factory, this CL500 was equipped with a hydropneumatic rear suspension and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) for a balance of ride comfort and control. Braking is provided by ventilated discs at all four corners.

Interior

Inside, the CL500 features heated power-adjustable front seats upholstered in beige Nappa leather. The cabin is appointed with dual-zone automatic climate control, a Kenwood head unit, cruise control, and wood trim on the center console and dashboard. The headliner was replaced in August 2024, and interior materials are well preserved with light wear noted consistent with the car’s mileage.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a traditional Mercedes-Benz instrument cluster, including a 160-mph speedometer, tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, instant fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer reads 48k miles.

Performance & Maintenance

Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter M119 V8, which was factory-rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The M119 engine is highly regarded for its refinement and durability, and this example benefits from a replacement accessory drive belt in 2020.

The car’s ride is enhanced by the factory hydropneumatic rear suspension, and the drivetrain delivers a composed, torquey driving experience that exemplifies Mercedes’ flagship engineering of the era.

History & Documentation

This CL500 was first registered in California and has since resided in private collections, including in Connecticut and now offered by the selling dealer in Ohio. It was previously listed on Bring a Trailer in December 2024 and is now being offered at no reserve with 48k miles, a clean Carfax report, and current Connecticut registration.

This low-mileage C140 offers a rare opportunity to own a well-preserved example of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship coupe, with elegant styling, V8 performance, and limited modern analog luxury appointments.
