2002 BMW M3 - 148k Miles Rebuilt Motor

VIN: WBSBL93432JR12386

Mileage: 148,000 Miles

Title: Clean California Title

This 2001 BMW M3 is a driver-focused E46 finished in striking Phoenix Yellow over black leather and equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Showing 148k miles on the chassis, the car is powered by a rebuilt 3.2-liter S54 inline-six that’s said to have logged approximately 3,000 miles since being overhauled by a previous owner. The engine rebuild followed a spun rod bearing and included CP forged pistons, ACL rod and main bearings, and all new seals throughout.

This M3 isn’t a garage queen—it’s a sorted, road-ready example with tasteful upgrades, including coilover suspension, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and recent maintenance such as new sway bar end links and a passenger-side window regulator and motor. The driver’s side, front bumper, and rear bumper were repainted to correct fading, while the passenger side retains original paint. It rides on factory-style wheels, though the TPMS sensors are missing, resulting in an illuminated warning light.

Inside, the black leather cabin shows well for its age. All windows and the sunroof function properly, the factory audio system works as it should, and both the A/C and heat are operational. The oil temp gauge on the cluster is currently inoperative, and the oil light briefly illuminates on startup before turning off. A minor seep from the valve cover gasket is noted, and a single minor damage entry is reported on the Carfax, though there are no accident records and the frame is straight.

This E46 is a strong-running driver that pulls hard through the revs, shifts cleanly, and still captures the analog charm that made the M3 a modern classic. It’s not a concours example, but it’s got good bones and a freshened heart—an ideal candidate for an enthusiast looking to enjoy one of BMW’s best without fear of adding miles.
