1974 BMW
This 1974 BMW 2002tii was acquired by a previous owner in 2018 and refreshed over the following five years. Work included a repaint in black, a refreshed black interior, a Getrag 245 five-speed manual swap, a limited-slip differential, and overhauled brakes and suspension. The car sold on Bring a Trailer in 2023, and the current owner has since had it serviced to address an oil leak and a coolant leak [add specifics: what was replaced, by whom, when]. It has been driven only a few thousand miles in that time.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection. Equipment includes Gotti 13" wheels, Bilstein shocks, Behr air conditioning, Recaro front seats, a Nardi wood steering wheel and shift knob, and a Retrosound head unit with Bluetooth. Heritage Gruppe is offering the car on behalf of the current owner with spare parts and a clean Illinois title in the owner’s name.
Exterior
The car was refinished in black following bodywork and metal repair completed in 2023. A front spoiler and replacement bumpers are installed. Areas of touched-up paint are noted, and the kidney grilles are aftermarket. [Update paint notes to current condition.] Gotti 13" wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. [Confirm tires are unchanged.]
Chassis
Bilstein shocks are fitted, and the tie rods, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes were replaced during the earlier ownership.
Interior
The cabin has Recaro front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black. The headliner and door panels have been reupholstered. Coco Mats seagrass mats cover the black carpets, and sound-dampening material lines the cabin. Other equipment includes a Nardi wood shift knob, billet door and window handles, Behr air conditioning, and a Retrosound head unit with Bluetooth connected to aftermarket speakers.
Flaws: the dashboard is cracked, the information display does not work, and the seat recline levers are broken. [Confirm these are still accurate.]
A wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 43,808 miles, approximately 10k of which were added during the 2018-2023 ownership and a few thousand since. Total mileage is unknown.
Engine and drivetrain
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection was factory rated at 125 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. Service during the 2018-2023 ownership included an aluminum radiator, a stainless-steel exhaust, and replacement of the crankshaft seals, water pump, fuel injection pump, spark plugs and wires, and distributor cap and rotor. Since 2023, the current owner has had the engine serviced to address an oil leak and a coolant leak [specify the parts and work done].
Power goes to the rear wheels through a replacement Getrag 245 five-speed manual, reportedly sourced from an E21. A limited-slip differential, 228mm flywheel, and replacement clutch are also fitted.
