1964 Volkswagen
Sold — $16,250
The Beetle built its reputation on being sensible. This one has been quietly talked out of that — lowered on a narrowed front beam, sitting on Sprintstars, with a wood-rimmed MOMO on a quick-release hub and dice-style knobs on the dash.
This 1964 Volkswagen Beetle rides on 15" Sprintstar-style wheels and a lowered suspension, and is powered by a replacement air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. It is finished in black and red and features chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, and earlier-model exterior lighting. The car was refurbished and modified under previous ownership and was acquired in 2015 by its current owner, who commissioned an engine rebuild in the early 2020s. It is offered on dealer consignment with a clean California title.
Exterior
The car was repainted black and red under previous ownership and has been retrofitted with 1963-style front turn signals and license plate lights. Details include chrome bumpers with overriders, polished trim, and dual side mirrors. Paint blemishes are noted on various body panels.
Wheels, Suspension & Brakes
The car has been lowered using a narrowed front beam, and the 15" Sprintstar-style wheels are wrapped in 165/65 front and 195/65 rear Continental ProContact TX tires. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums.
Interior
The low-back front seats and rear bench were retrimmed in red leatherette that extends to the door panels. An EMPI shifter has been fitted, and further appointments include map pockets, dice-style control knobs, and a digital radio with auxiliary inputs. The wood-rimmed MOMO steering wheel is mounted to an NRG quick-release hub and sits ahead of VDO instrumentation consisting of a 90-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 83,000 miles, approximately 3,000 of which were added under current ownership.
Engine & Drivetrain
The replacement air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four was installed under previous ownership and is said to have been rebuilt in the early 2020s. Power reaches the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
Condition
Rust is noted under the front bumper and nose panel.
Note: Additional details including VIN, service records, and further photography will be provided to serious inquiries.
