1975 Datsun
Sold — $30,000
There is a particular appeal to a car that makes no attempt to disguise what it was built for — the flare of the fenders, the drop in the stance, the sound of boost arriving before the wheel loads up. This 280Z was built to deliver exactly that.
This 1975 Datsun 280Z is finished in gray with a wide-body kit and is powered by a rebuilt, turbocharged 2.8-liter L28 inline-six paired with a Z32-sourced five-speed manual transmission. It is offered on dealer consignment with a California title.
Exterior
The car was refinished in gray following installation of the kit, which consists of bolt-on Saisei DBWorkz fender flares, a front spoiler, and a replacement front bumper. Additional exterior features include HID headlights, fender-mounted side mirrors, black hood vents, and a rear spoiler. The car rolls on black-finished 15" steel wheels with red accents, mounted with Hankook Ventus RS3 tires up front and Nitto NT555R tires at the rear.
Interior
Sparco bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl are fitted with four-point racing harnesses attaching to a rear strut tower brace with an integrated harness bar. A MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of a Speedhut instrument cluster comprising a GPS-based 140-mph speedometer and an 8,000-rpm tachometer with integrated shift lights. An analog clock, the factory coolant temperature and oil pressure gauges, and a fuel level readout are mounted in the center of the dash. Further details include a wood shift knob, manual wind-up windows, Fairlady Z-branded floor mats, and a custom audio system built around an Alpine subwoofer mounted in the cargo floor.
Engine & Drivetrain
The turbocharged L28 was built by Costa Mesa R&D in Costa Mesa, California, in February 2017. The rebuild included machining the block, resizing the connecting rods, balancing the rotating assembly, resurfacing the cylinder head, grinding the valves, and fitting turbo-specification CP pistons and ISKY Racing double valve springs. Supporting equipment includes a DIYAutoTune MS3-Pro standalone engine management system, a revised intake manifold, G-PLUS silicone coolant hoses, an aftermarket ignition system, electric cooling fans, and a Mishimoto radiator, front-mount intercooler, and charge-pipe couplers. Power is routed through the retrofitted Z32-sourced five-speed manual paired with a lightened flywheel and a differential power brace. The exhaust is custom-built and finished with a Borla ProXS muffler.
Chassis, Suspension & Brakes
The car rides on a Techno Toy Tuning suspension setup with adjustable coilovers and front and rear Techno Toy Tuning lower control arms. Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers with cross-drilled rotors at all four corners, along with steel-braided brake lines.
Note: The odometer has been replaced and shows 4,900 miles; total mileage on the car is unknown. Additional details including VIN, service records, and further photography will be provided to serious inquiries.
