1989 Mercedes-Benz
Sold — $7,600
The C124 is the coupe version of the W124, and Mercedes charged accordingly for the privilege of losing the B-pillar. This one is finished in Signal Red over Palomino leather and has covered 159,000 miles.
This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300CE coupe was acquired by the seller in 2022 and has been registered in California since. Power comes from the 3.0-liter M103 inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It is offered at no reserve with partial service records, a Carfax report, and a clean New York title in the seller's name.
Exterior
The body was finished in Signal Red (568U) from the factory, with the bumper covers and lower body cladding repainted to match. Equipment includes European-style headlights, a power-operated sunroof, a power-operated antenna, and a single windshield wiper. The seller states that the front fenders and hood have been repainted and that an Underdog Pro paint protection coating was applied. A ding and paint blemishes are shown in the gallery. Accident damage is noted on the Carfax report in December 1992, although no further details are given.
Wheels, Suspension & Brakes
Chrome-finished 16" Alamak alloy wheels are mounted with 205/55 Continental PureContact tires. The car has independent suspension front and rear, with braking by ventilated front and solid rear discs with ABS. The front lower ball joints and front brake pads and rotors have been serviced.
Interior
The cabin features seating upholstered in Palomino leather with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a power-adjustable steering column, and an Eclipse stereo. The seller notes that the driver-seat tilt function is inoperable, and that the blower motor and regulator have been replaced. A leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,200-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and instant fuel economy.
Engine & Drivetrain
The 3.0-liter M103 inline-six was factory rated at 177 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The engine mounts, alternator, water pump, air conditioning lines, fuel filter, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and ignition distributor cap and rotor were reportedly replaced in 2015. In 2022 the air conditioning refrigerant was recharged, the air filter replaced, the coolant and power steering fluid flushed, and the oil changed.
Note: Additional details including VIN, service records, and further photography will be provided to serious inquiries.
