1991 Nissan 240SX (SR20DET)

Twenty years with one owner, most of it spent being slowly rebuilt — a Silvia front end, an SR20DET, and R32 GT-R wheels, all fitted by the same shop. This is what a long-term S13 project looks like when nobody rushes it.

This 1991 Nissan 240SX has been under the same ownership for approximately twenty years, purchased in stock form and modified progressively since. It has been swapped with a turbocharged SR20DET inline-four sourced from the Nissan Silvia, sending power to the rear wheels through a manual transmission. All major work was carried out by Sun Service Auto, a Southern California shop specializing in Japanese performance cars. The car has lived in California throughout and is offered with a clean title.

Exterior

Originally finished in white, the car was first repainted in a metallic gray-gold hue before receiving its current baby blue finish, applied after the previous coat began to fade. Exterior modifications include a Nissan Silvia front-end conversion featuring fixed headlights and a revised hood and bumper design. The car rides on R32 Nissan GT-R wheels, and a rear spoiler has been added. Paint condition is consistent with a driver-quality car, showing signs of use and age, with close-up images of the body panels provided in the gallery.

Interior

The cabin retains much of its original layout, with modifications focused primarily on the exterior and powertrain. The 240SX interior offers a driver-centric cockpit with analog instrumentation, bucket seats, and a clean dashboard design.

Engine & Drivetrain

The turbocharged SR20DET inline-four is a well-known JDM performance upgrade sourced from the Nissan Silvia. The swap, along with the Silvia front end, R32 GT-R wheels, and spoiler, was recommended and completed by the owner of Sun Service Auto, a Nissan enthusiast with extensive experience building 240SXs.

Known Issues

The car has a leak from the power steering rack, and the rack will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Additional servicing may be required depending on intended use.
