1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E

Mercedes needed help building the 500E, so it asked Porsche. Bodies travelled back and forth between Stuttgart and Zuffenhausen on trucks, each car taking the better part of three weeks to assemble largely by hand. What emerged was a W124 with flared arches, a 5.0-liter V8, and almost nothing on the outside to explain itself.

This 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E shows 53,600 miles and is unmodified, with a clean title and a clear Carfax report. It was purchased new in the 1990s by a couple in Los Angeles and kept as one of two cars, meticulously maintained until age caught up with them, at which point it was acquired by a friend — also a dentist, and a relative of the seller. Extensive refurbishment followed, restoring original components alongside comprehensive mechanical work. The car has been serviced exclusively at GNN Motors in Santa Monica.

Exterior

The car received a recent repaint in its original color, with cosmetic refinement carried out by CMS Motorsports and new seals, plastics, and grommets fitted throughout. No accidents are reported, though the owner is aware of minor rear-end damage that was professionally repaired by the second owner at the time of the repaint. New front hubs, bearings, and rotors have been installed. No rust is present.

Interior

The cabin has been meticulously refurbished while retaining original components including the radio and CD player. New door seals, carpets, and trim pieces have been fitted. The rear sunshade, sunroof, air conditioning, and heater all function. Aging speaker covers and rubber seals remain as evidence of the car's originality.

Engine & Drivetrain

The 5.0-liter V8 is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is unmodified and has been maintained to a consistent standard, with a detailed maintenance record documenting recent servicing and refurbishment.
