1995 Land Rover
Sold — $67,000
Short, square, and entirely unpretentious, the Defender 90 was built to work past the end of the road. This one carries that intent forward on a new frame, with a diesel built to order and 2,800 miles since the whole thing went back together.
This 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 underwent a full frame-off restoration following the current owner's acquisition in 2023. The project began with a new frame sourced from England, stamped with the proper VIN. Power comes from a 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four sourced from MD Engineering, bored and built to 2.8 liters during the restoration, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and a fully functioning four-wheel-drive system. The vehicle has traveled approximately 2,800 miles since completion.
Exterior
The short-wheelbase body was refinished and fitted with upgraded front and rear bumpers, a front-mounted winch, and a heavy-duty rear swing-out spare carrier holding a full-size spare. Off-road tires are mounted to steel wheels. The rear load area has been lined with a durable rubber mat for added practicality.
Interior
The cabin has been fully reupholstered with a combination of vinyl and cloth seating surfaces, with a suede headliner providing a refined contrast while keeping the Defender's utilitarian character intact. Functioning air conditioning is fitted, uncommon for Defenders of this era. A new stereo system is included with the sale, unused and ready for installation should the next owner want it.
Engine & Drivetrain
The MD Engineering-built 300Tdi was bored out to 2.8 liters and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and a fully engaged four-wheel-drive system. Custom driveshafts complement the drivetrain upgrades. The mechanicals present in strong running order, set up for both on-road drivability and off-road capability.
History & Documentation
The Defender was imported to the United States in 2021 by the prior owner and purchased by the seller in 2023, at which point the frame-off restoration was undertaken at the seller's shop. Documentation includes records of the restoration, details of the MD Engineering engine build, and the included unused stereo system.
Note: Additional details including VIN, service records, and further photography will be provided to serious inquiries.
