Listing yourself works well for a straightforward car and an owner with the time. Consigning suits an owner who would rather hand over the photography, the bidders, the transport and the paperwork.
The short answer
If your car is simple to describe, you can photograph it well and you have the time to answer bidders and arrange transport yourself, listing on Bring a Trailer directly can be the better value. If you want someone to prepare, photograph, list and manage the whole sale, that is what Heritage Gruppe does from Los Angeles. We have more than 60 recorded sales on Bring a Trailer.

Consigning with us
What Heritage Gruppe adds
- Photography and film shot in house, so the car is presented at its best.
- The listing written for the car, and every bidder question answered quickly for the length of the auction.
- Preparation and detailing coordinated before the first photograph.
- Transport, and secure storage in our Los Angeles warehouse through the sale.
- The choice of venue: Bring a Trailer, another leading platform, or a direct sale to a buyer in our network when that is the better path.
- Paperwork, funds and handover managed to the end, with net proceeds wired to you.
What it costs to consign with us
Our commission is a percentage of the sale price, and the percentage depends on the value of the car. It is not a flat fee like Bring a Trailer’s listing options, so it is larger than those. What it pays for is the work: it covers the services needed to take your car from intake through the sale, shipping and payment, including storage for the length of the engagement.
Renovation work, if your car needs any, is invoiced separately. If the car does not sell, a fee can apply depending on the car’s price. Everything is agreed in writing before your car is listed.

When listing it yourself is the better choice
Choose Bring a Trailer’s own options if the car is straightforward to describe, you can take strong photographs and video, you have time to answer bidder questions through the whole auction, and you are comfortable arranging transport and the closing paperwork. We would rather say so than take on a car where consignment adds little.
Tell us about your car
No commitment. We review your car and reach out with options, and if consignment is not the right fit we will tell you.
Questions?
Consigning versus listing on Bring a Trailer
It depends on how much of the work you want to do. Listing yourself costs what Bring a Trailer publishes for its own seller options. Consigning with Heritage Gruppe means we prepare, photograph, list and manage the sale and you do none of it. If your car is straightforward, you have good photographs and the time to answer bidders and arrange transport and paperwork, listing yourself can be the better value. If you would rather hand all of that over, consignment is the better fit.
Bring a Trailer offers its own listing options, including a White Glove service for cars with special needs. Heritage Gruppe is a Los Angeles consignment brokerage that lists collector cars on Bring a Trailer on behalf of owners and has more than 60 recorded sales there. We collect the car, photograph it, write the listing, answer bidder questions and manage payment and handover.
As published on Bring a Trailer's seller page in October 2026: a Classic auction is $99, Plus Photography is $429 and includes professional photos and video, and White Glove service is priced on inquiry. Check sell.bringatrailer.com for the current figures.
Commission is quoted per car, because it depends on the car, the market and the platform used. We agree the terms in writing before your car is listed.
When your car is straightforward to describe, you can take strong photographs and video, you have time to answer bidder questions through the whole auction, and you are comfortable arranging transport and the closing paperwork yourself.
You tell us about your car and we respond within 48 hours. We assess its market position, condition and the right platform, then handle photography, the listing, the auction and buyer questions. Once the sale closes and the buyer’s funds clear, net proceeds are wired to you.
